Projects
I am always in continuous development of my technique and knowledge of all these traditions by travelling regularly to Brazil and Cuba and studying with professional dancers and performers, such as Paula de Hollanda (Sweden/Brazil) www.pauladehollanda.com, Martica Galarraga (Cuba); Himany Dixit (Udaipur, India)www.aahwan.org;Maria la Chata (Cordoba, Spain). I am currently undertaking training with Leda Franklin and Laurie Booth to become Gyrotonics Instructor www.lauriebooth.co.uk.
Current projects include: Choreographer and Finale Director (Children's Parade. Same Sky); choreographer for the Kemptown Carnival 2011 (4th June); resident choreographer and lead female dancer ( Maracatu Cruzeiro do Sul Dance Troupe); founder of Celebratory Carnival Dance and Golden Grooves (dance and movement sessions for over 60s) and choreographer of Burning the Clocks (finale performance)
Research and Development Projects include:
TIDE: Transformation and Inspiration throught the Dance of the Elements:In association with Swedish/Brazilian dancer and choreographer Paula de Hollanda www.pauladehollanda.com. TIDE is a work in progress project where Silvestre technique, created by Rosangela Silvestre, www.silvestrelink.com, fuses with contemporary dance techniques and orixa dance. This style aims at challenging preconceived structures and techniques in terms of posture, mobility, coordination and fluidity.
Synergy: personal development through voice and movement: in collaboration with vocal coach and musician Polina Shepherd,www.polinashepherd.co.uk). This project, originally funded by the Arts Council of England, consists of a group of sessions using Afro-Brazilian traditional dances, evoking the Candomble divinities, and Jewish wordless songs (niggunim) to explore hidden aspects within each person.
